A half pig comes from a pig that is approximately 300 lbs live weight. A half typically works out to about 105 lbs hanging weight and yields roughly 80–90 lbs of packaged meat, once everything is cut and wrapped in brown paper.

Here’s a rough idea of what you’ll get from a half pig:

Pork belly: about 9–12 lbs, packed in 1 lb packs

Pork chops: 12–18 lbs total, about 2 chops per package (around ¾–1 lb each)

Roasts: 12–15 lbs total, cut into 4 lb roasts (usually 3–4 roasts)

Ribs: 3–4 lbs total, packed in 1 lb packages

Ground pork: 12–18 lbs total, packed in 1 lb portions

Hams: 12–18 lbs total, cut into 4 lb roasts or 1 lb steaks

Extras: If you’d like them, you can also receive jowls, hocks, shanks, fat for rendering, and organs (heart, liver, tongue, kidneys).

Overall, you’ll take home about 80–90 lbs of pork, usually around 45–55 individual packages, all vacuum sealed and freezer ready.

Before processing, we’ll send you a cut sheet so your pork can be custom cut to your preferences. If this is your first time ordering a half pig, no worries — we’ll walk you through everything. Final weight is determined after slaughter and will be billed at $8.50 per lb of hanging weight.

Smoking is available for an additional $2.25 per lb, and sausage is an extra $4.00 per lb as charged by the abattoir.

Helpful Tip: Fresh food items can’t be checked out with pet treats.
Please place one order for fresh items and a separate order for pet treats.

Buying a half pig is an economical way to enjoy a wide variety of high-quality pork while knowing exactly where your food comes from.

Our pigs are raised on pasture on our Ontario farm, with room to roam, root, and express natural behaviours. Pasture access is combined with a balanced supplemental feed to support healthy growth and excellent meat quality. We prioritize animal welfare, low-stress handling, and transparency at every step.

Half pig orders are processed at a licensed abattoir and professionally cut and wrapped in brown paper. Your order will include a mix of pork chops, roasts, ribs, ground pork, pork belly, and fresh ham, along with optional extras such as jowls, hocks, fat for rendering, and organs if requested.

Before processing, you’ll receive a cut sheet so your pork can be tailored to your preferences. If this is your first time ordering a whole pig, we’re happy to guide you through the process.

Half pigs are ideal for families, bulk buyers, and anyone looking to fill their freezer with ethically raised, locally produced pork.

If you ever have questions about cuts, packaging, or how to use less familiar pieces, we’re happy to help.
